I spent some time in the shop this evening cleaning up. I also cut down my fixture for flattening slabs. Now that the long slab is in place, I need a fixture for a shorter slab and have nowhere to store the fixture as is. Once I finish the west wall, I will craft the east wall, which includes a window seat made from a ‘sister’ slab I have from the same tree.
I planned to store the shortened fixture against the wall beneath my tool cabinet. And then I tried to put it there.
Time for plan ‘B’. I made a mockup to see if we could get the slab in through the back door in the garage (we did), and had it stored in the garage. Moving that into the shop to be disassembled gave me a spot to put the shortened fixture.
Of course, there’s the extra four feet or so I removed. I’ll have to save that somewhere, ‘just in case’.
