I found some time today to finish fitting and installing the last three legs in the low bench. I was hoping I might have better luck with the taper reamer in the remaining holes, but no such luck. So now I have lots of experience fitting leg tapers to holes, the opposite of what you do when making chairs. On the bright side, my turning skills continue to improve.
I didn’t take time to capture the process this time, since it was exactly the same as with the first leg. I had hoped to do more than fit and glue the legs, such as leveling them to height. But I ran out of time, so after getting everything glued up I called a friend who came over and helped me lift the ‘lowrider’ onto my workbench, where it will be easy to level the legs sometime this week.
After I have someone help me get it off the workbench, I can lay out and drill all the holes. Then I’ll smooth the top and remove the bark from the sides before applying some finish.
